Rohit is not a native Austinite, but he got here as fast as he could! A graduate of the University of Texas, he found it hard to leave home and soon joined the family business, Whip In. In 2003, he opened Travis Heights Wine & Spirits (then Travis Heights Beverage World), and a new passion for wine and spirits followed. Just as he'd made Whip In Austin’s first destination bottle shop for beer, he quickly did the same for wine and spirits at THWS. He loves wines from Loire, especially Chenin Blanc, with Single Malts from Japan a close second. No matter what it is, his dedication shows in the selection offered at the shop. When not working, he spends time with wife Shilpa and sons, Kiran and Rajan.
Born in Marseille, France, Eric came to Austin in 1986 and set upon a meteoric rise from dishwasher to Chef amid the zeitgeist of the '90s Austin burgeoning food scene. After more than 20 years in restaurant and catering kitchens, he followed his growing interest into the liquid side of the good life! He began by running the THWS tasting series and 13 years later is the shop's Wine & Spirit Buyer and aide-de-camp. His passion for fine drink continues to grow, and he takes great pleasure and pride in the shop being a destination for wine & spirit lovers from all over town. When not sending people home with delicious bottles, he devotes himself to his family, music (he insists the shop soundtrack is the best in ATX) and stencil art, with dozens of his Star Wars-related works having made their way into the world via being lifted from THWS.
David 'Bart' Bartlett
Bart was born alongside the river of nuts, the Nueces River in Corpus Christi, and is a graduate of Texas A&I, now Texas A&M Kingsville. After a quarter century as a graphic artist and sign maker, he succumbed to his first love—all things whisky! A former contributor to the single malt newsgroup, he’s deeply fond of single malt scotch, but his first whisk(e)y love was Irish whiskey. He’s also quite fond of the food-friendly Italian wines, which often represent great values as well. A man of many interests with a love of history, when not working (usually accompanied by his faithful cat companion, Tilly) he spends his time gardening, wood-working, searching out obscure early music, and watching Doctor Who.
